Cancellation of the 16th Annual Crisis Team Golf Tournament
Dear Friends and Supporters,
It is with deep sadness that, due to the ongoing impact of the Jasper Wildfire Complex, we announce the cancellation of the 16th Annual Crisis Team Golf Tournament Fundraiser.
Meanwhile, as our community members and visitors return to town, the Crisis Team is in full force, assisting with after hours, on-call support.
The Crisis Team—a referral-based agency whose referrals mainly come from Jasper Community Outreach Services, healthcare staff, the Activity Centre front desk, and the RCMP and other first responders—has operated since 2007 with support from the Municipality of Jasper, community fundraising efforts, and provincial grants. The team is comprised of trained community members who share the responsibility of answering the crisis line 365 days per year, from 5pm-8am on weekdays and 24 hours per day on weekends. In other words, when the rest of Jasper’s support agencies are closed, the Crisis Team is there to help, and, post-fire, we expect our services to be in even higher demand. We depend heavily on the annual tournament for funding to support this work. If you have the ability to donate your golf tournament fees, those funds would go a long way to maximally and directly support Jasper residents and visitors in crisis. If not, we wholeheartedly understand. Please note that Crisis Team Jasper Society is a registered charitable organization, and charitable receipts will be provided for any donations.
We want to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the brave firefighters and first responders who are working tirelessly to protect our beloved Jasper National Park and the surrounding areas. Their dedication and courage in the face of such a formidable challenge is truly inspiring.
Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to hosting a tournament again next year.
